Yellow Lakshmi feet in papier-mâché

Sale price€40,00

This decorative foot duo represents the Lakshmi Padalu, the footprints of the goddess Lakshmi in Hindu tradition. They are traditionally placed on either side of a house's entrance, facing inwards, to symbolize the arrival of prosperity and good fortune under the household's roof.

Handcrafted from papier-mâché by Indian artisans, they are molded layer by layer then dried before being painted. This ancient technique, which is economical in terms of raw materials, allows for the creation of lightweight yet solid forms, widely used in Indian folk art for masks as well as ritual objects.

Hand-painted in yellow, these feet display slight variations in shade and finish, characteristic of handmade work. This irregularity is part of the charm of handmade papier-mâché; no two pieces are perfectly identical.

Unique handcrafted piece, slight variations in shade.

100% Paper - Hand Painted.
