Articulated Papier Maché Figurine | Orange Tiger
This papier-mâché elephant figurine with an articulated head is a handcrafted decorative piece, entirely shaped by hand in the Odisha region of India. The head is articulated to the body by a traditional attachment system, a skill passed down from generation to generation.
Each figurine is the result of long manual work: sculpting the body and head separately, natural drying, then painting entirely by brush by the artisan.
Painted with colorful motifs (red, yellow, white) on a grey background, this figurine is inspired by the ceremonial adornments worn by elephants during traditional Indian festivals. Its articulated movement gives it a playful and lively aspect, halfway between a decorative figurine and a handcrafted toy.
Each piece retains subtle unique characteristics, inherent to its entirely handmade production.
No two pieces are strictly identical; slight variations in color and relief are a testament to this entirely manual work.
Unique piece, slight natural variations.
Material: 100% traditional paper mache and tamarind fiber paste.
Dimensions: Approximately 15 x 20 cm.
